Amit Sharma

Department of Computer Science
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

I'm working as a Research Assistant in PPL under Prof. Kale towards my MS degree in the department of Computer Science. I received my Bachelors of Technology (B.Tech) degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur in 2004.

Research:

I'm primarily interested in various aspects of parallel computing, though distributed computing and operating systems also form part of my interest. Specifically, I'm interested in load balancing related issues in parallel environments. I've worked on implementing topology-aware load balancers in the adaptive runtime system of Charm++. I'm also interested in working on parallel applications and studying their scalability to large number of processors. I'm currently working on a parallel N-body cosmological simulation which is a Charm++ application.
