I am a 4th year PhD student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign,
USA. I work with Prof. Kale in the Parallel Programming Laboratory. Previously,
in 2002, I earned a Laurea degree in "Ingegneria Informatica" (Computer
Science Engineering) from the University of Padova, in Italy.
My research interests are in the Parallel Computing area, both at the system level and at the application level. While at PPL, I had the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Charm++ runtime system. This includes both low level problematics, such as porting to different platforms and communication optimization, as well as high level problematics, such as dynamic insertion of high level scripting language into running applications and parallel debugging. This last topic, in particular, is the main focus of my thesis research.
In the application area, I've been working with computational cosmology,
formerly at the Center of Excellence "Science and Applications of Advanced
Computing Paradigms" at the University of Padova, and later at PPL in
collaboration with the University of Washington.
