Abhinav Bhatele
Department of Computer Science
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
I am a doctoral candidate at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
I received a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2005
and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois in 2007.
I work in the Parallel Programming Laboratory (PPL) with Prof. Laxmikant V. Kale.
Research:
My research is related to topology-aware task mapping on large parallel machines
with non-flat three-dimensional topologies. This involves initial static
mapping and dynamic adaptive load balancing. I do this work in the context of
two parallel applications. One of them is an implementation of the CPAIMD method, called
OpenAtom. (aka
LeanCP).
The second project is called NAnoscale Molecular Dynamics or NAMD. I am working on making it more efficient and scalable through near-optimal load balancing.
