Chameleon v4.22

(service release)

Bugfix:

• Guestbook has been initialized with the default dimensions (360x140px) in IE served from Windows servers. Fixed.
• from now on Guestbook will using the same posts for all languages with multilingual albums. Note, that the XML file naming convention has changed from using the folder titles to the real folder names — thus you might need to rename the old guestbook XML files in order to be able to use with the newly generated gallery.

Chameleon v4.20

• XHTML 1.0 Transitional pages generated. Browsers will support this standard for a longer time, and you can integrate the gallery into Content Management Systems more easily.

Bugfix:

• Google Maps link did not work on systems (or Java versions) using comma ',' instead of dot '.' as decimal sign, like French, German, etc.
• The uplink was not compatible with MyJalbum's main gallery address. Fixed.
• The Numbered linklist got unlimited when the number of rows set to '0' (unlimited rows). Fixed.

Chameleon v4.11

• Guestbook is not working on certain PHP configurations (5.05, 5.22) problem is fixed.
• "NEW" indicator reported incorrectly on virtual folders. Fixed.

Chameleon v4.10

Bugfix:

• FixedShape filter bug (when used with Large thumbnails for folders) is fixed
• Folder with no description inherits the parent's description bug is fixed
• Chameleon will detect and use the folders thumbnails even if their name contain extended (accented) characters — previously those files were copied with a wrong filename.

Chameleon v4.04

• Thumblist on the slide page can be positioned left or rigth too relative to the main picture
• Copyright info on slide pages can be turned off
• A file chooser has been added to the Logo filter (you don't have to manually add the filename)
• You can have Guestbook only on the main page

Chameleon v4.02

This version has been checked to conform W3C standards. Now all pages should validate as "XHTML Transitional".

• "Force link to empty folders" — to generate gallery without the sub-albums ready
• "Show thumb title" — You can disable the thumb titles (the popup labels on mouse over)
• The language box now shows full name
• The maximum thumb dimensions are set to 128x128px for Graphic type thumbnails instead of the old 120x120px — though I still not recommend using larger thumbs than 120x120px
• Using "None" as Slidemount background the folder thumbnails will also show without slidemount (just the book)
• Grayscale effect for Indexpage thumbnails (works only with IE)

Chameleon v4.0

This version has been largely compiled into Java programming language, which made the generation process up to 300% faster compared to the previous versions. The skin's user interface loads 3 times faster too. There are so many new features, changes and bugfixes — I decided to make it a major version.

Chameleon's homepage at lazaworx.com is now working. There you can find more styles, sub-styles, sample galleries, tutorials, source code and other web-design related stuff.

New features:

• Sub-styles: The original styles' color variations. Now available for 5 styles — more on the site.
• Thumblist on both sides — left and right to the picture.
• You can choose the album's base font type and size.
• Configurable field-separator string. (default "|")
• Color input can be hexadecimal too.
• new Exposure Bias Exif field, Exposure mode added for non-Canon type cameras.
• Em-square, and Zoom filters now available for closeups (slidepage images) too.
• Albuminfo now can be detached from the tables, and displayed with no frame around.
• Guestbook on the indexpages.
• Re-designed sleeker guestbook. New graphics. The naming conflict issue is fixed. The guestbook files are stored in the root's guestbook folder — so you can manage it easier.
• Enhanced picture feature: you can choose a picture — the first one, the folder thumbnail or with a specific name (map.jpg) — to be displayed in large size on the top, left or right on the index page.
• Folder thumbnails are copied from the sub-albums right into the current level's "thumbs" folder — thus making it possible to password-protect a sub-album and visitors will still see the thumbnail representing the folder.
• Picture navigation "Previous | Next" has been added to the usual "Previous | Index | Next" .
• For the "Simple" type thumbnail background you can specify the frame width too.
• When no thumbnail background is selected there will be no background generated behind the current picture for the slide page thumblist, thank you Mark.
• The Page title now uses the whole path (e.g. "Familyalbum » Trip to London » 1st day » PICT1578.jpg")

Chameleon v3.42

• Guestbook thanks to dhina Don't forget to set the "res" folder permissions to 777 in the current album's root. Use "CHMOD 777" or set the properties right-clicking the folder in an FTP program. This will enable the visitors to write into the guestbook. Unfortunately this cannot be done with JAlbum's Publish feature.
• Movie "Scale to fit" feature can be turned off - the original size will be used instead of the given size
• XP-added fields (Title | Subject | Keywords | Comment) can be displayed along with other metadata (Exif, Iptc). You can add these fields by right-clicking the image file /Properties/Summary.
• Custom Links now can be relative to page (links not starting with "http://" or "/" treated as relative). Coding is done by Ross Tyler.
• Bugfixes: Indexlinklist broken link problem from the 10th to 9th page / thumblist pict distorted bug with large thumbnails / empty text for slidepages in certain situation

Chameleon v3.41

• More Iptc fields generated by different software are recognized. The order of Iptc fields is changed to: Headline | ObjectName | Category | Author | Location | City | Province | Country | Source | Copyright | Caption | Keywords
• The thumbnail alignment is changed to vertically centered if no thumbnail background is selected
• An additional line break is inserted if the NEW label is longer than 4 chars, like the french "Noveau"
• Album title, label, comment, author and keywords variables has been added to meta tag "keywords" (in the HTML header, recognized by the search engines)
• The default border width of slide page images is changed to 1px
• Graphic background is generated again (if chosen in the index tab) when thumbs are smaller than 120px. (When they're bigger it will replaced by simple background to avoid the thumbs stretcing out.)

Chameleon v3.4

• Improved performance for large albums
• faster, and less memory-cunsuming album generation (thanks to David Ekholm)
• Thumbnail spacing is configurable
• Automatic start of movies can be switched off (Flash content will start automatically regardless of this switch)
• 4 new styles: Chrome, Glass, Oldbook, Wedding
• The text of thumbs can be aligned right to the thumb (not only below). This is useful for the top level gallery and also for galleries with lots of text detail rendered to thumbs. Looks best when "coloumns" is reduced to 2 or 1.
• The media embedding has been totally redesigned. Due to the so called " Eolas " licencing lawsuit the browsers can not support media embedding the way before - you will see "Activate controls" messages or nothing at all in the place of multimedia content. The workaround is using an external script to embed media on the fly. Known bugs: Opera 9.01 for Windows does not play script generated Windows Media Player content (jumps back from the page), and the Flash embedding does not work too. IE and FireFox does not play DivX content from local drives. All other media types work - even Opera for Mac plays everything fine, so I hope this bug will be fixed on PCs soon.
• The movie icon has been replaced in all designs and has slide mount background as all other files.
• Slide mount background now can be "Graphic" - as before, "Simple" - just a flat background color and "None" - when no background is generated at all.
• Border can be added to indexpage thumbs as well as to slidepage images before. The hover (mouse over) color is calculated automatically, but you can specify independently too. Controls are moved to the Index page and Slide page sections.
• New Exif field: White balance
• A wide range of IPTC fields added: Caption, Headline, Object Name, Location, Country, State/Province, City, Category, Source, Keywords, Copyright, Media
• Changed some style's graphics and made transparent background buttons.
• Bugfix: when no comment was given no download icon has been generated - fixed.

Chameleon v3.32

• The NEW label now means the file is new at the time of viewing and not the time when the gallery was made. Now you can have your localized string instead of "NEW". (see text/text_??.properties)
• Custom color scrollbars (Works only with IE for PC) - you can turn off in the Chameleon's general tab
• Download icon varies in color with the different styles
• Firefox bug when the infotable got too close to the header is fixed
• Print ordering did not work from the index pages (since the beginning)- now this is fixed

Chameleon v3.30

• Voice annotations can be attached to slide pages. Give the sound file the same name (with the original extension) and it will be played with the photo. Supported formats: MP3, WMV, WAV, MID, RM - if there is more than one found picks the first in the list. In the case of MP3, WMV and RM JAlbum will generate separate slide pages for the sounds too, unless you "exclude" them manually in the Edit panel.
• ISO setting might gave back strange values ("Unknown: 16383") for Canon EOS machines. The bug is in the JAlbum EXIF extraction, but I have a workaround.
• Album Total images and Last Updated field appears only on the root index page - it shows Folder image count in the subfolders and Slide pages.
• Two Custom links can be added.

Chameleon v3.23

• Some bugs with tables are fixed — 3.22 had several, you better not use that version
• An unnecessary linebreak is removed when there was no table at the top
• No linklist nor thumblist is generated when only one page exists
• The default row-count is set to 0, i.e. continuous view

• A lot better media-embedding on Macs. The generated page contains the code for both Windows Media Player and QuickTime, and picks the better for the visitor's platform.

• The JAlbum copyright info has now taken out of the infoboxes.
• New: popup help can be attached to albums for the visitors (only english, french and hungarian version at the moment)

Chameleon v3.11

• Using "Large thumbs for folders" resulted in a small frame around folders without thumbnails. Bug is fixed.
• Using files without extension on Macs caused exception used with "new" folder feature. Fixed.
